Christmas

"Santa was here! Santa was here!" That is what we woke up to on Christmas morning. Megan was so excited that Santa really did come down the chimney and leave presents. After all the threats of Santa not coming if she continues to be mean to Matthew, he still came. His big gift to her was a Barbie house. She couldn't figure out how he got it through the fireplace. She was also excited with Matthew's Thomas the Train stuff that he got from Santa. She had a hard time deciding which to play with.
Christmas Eve we spent by my mom's house and Christmas day we went to Steve's mom. Both days the kids were overloaded with presents, great food and wonderful family. It was so nice to have a white Christmas this year. What made it even more special was to have everyone healthy and here to celebrate with us.

Oh Christmas Tree!

After searching about an hour for our Christmas tree at Marmion Academy's Christmas Tree Farm in Aurora, we finally found "the one."  It was actually the first tree we looked at and the closest tree to where we parked our truck. Go figure. We wanted one that was a little shorter and skinner than the one we had last year (so we wouldn't have to smash it through the doorway and cut the top off again). When we got it home, it was of course, larger than we expected. Squeezing it through the door wasn't that bad, we didn't have to cut off any branches. But when we put it in the spot by the fireplace, we had to trim branches. The tree was the right height, just too fat! Steve and I decorated the tree while Megan took the ornaments out of the boxes and Matthew kept removing ornaments from the tree. Even with all the "help" we got, only 1 ornament broke thanks to Matthew! Matthew decided that he didn't like one of the ornaments and threw it against the wall. Even though the tree is missing a lot of ornaments from the bottom (they are scattered throughout the house), I think our tree looks beautiful!
